Mission Values
BrightStart starts with what is strong in every child, not what is missing. Our approach combines strength-based learning, purposeful play, meaningful relationships, and research-informed practices to create an environment where children feel known, supported, and confident in who they are.
We believe every child is capable, curious, and full of potential. Rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way, we take time to understand their individual strengths, interests, and ways of learning and use those strengths to guide meaningful experiences.
Our philosophy is rooted in strength-based learning, play-rich experiences, and whole-child development, with learning grounded in trusted research and best practices in early childhood education.
It means there’s no corporate office. When you have a question, you’re talking to the person who can answer it…the owner, standing right in front of you.
It means the people you meet today are the people you’ll know years from now. Ownership doesn’t turn over here, so neither do the relationships.
And it means no one is a number here. We know every child by name, and we know their families too.
We’re parents ourselves. If something isn’t working, tell us. We’d always rather have an honest conversation.
We believe families are an important part of a child’s learning journey. We prioritize communication and collaboration so families understand what their child is experiencing, learning, and developing throughout their time at BrightStart. Our goal is to create a partnership built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to each child’s growth.
BrightStart sees itself as more than a place for children to spend the day. We want families to feel connected to the school community through communication, shared experiences, and opportunities to participate in their child’s learning journey. Our goal is to create a community where children, families, and educators feel valued and supported.
From the first tour through the everyday experience at BrightStart, families can expect a warm, thoughtful environment where teachers take the time to get to know their child. Families receive communication and photos throughout their child’s experience, while teachers intentionally observe children’s strengths, interests, relationships, and ways of learning.
Programs & Learning
BrightStart offers programs for:
- Infants: 6 weeks–12 months
- Toddlers: 12 – 24 months
- Early Preschool: 2–3 years
- Preschool: 3–4 years
- Pre-K: 4–5 years
Each program is designed around the developmental needs and learning characteristics of that age group.
Our goal isn’t simply to prepare children to complete worksheets or memorize information. We build kindergarten readiness through confidence, curiosity, problem-solving, communication, social-emotional development, early literacy and numeracy, and hands-on learning experiences. Our Pre-K program specifically supports kindergarten readiness through purposeful, developmentally appropriate experiences.
BrightStart uses a strength-based, play-rich, research-informed approach to early learning. Our Experience Learning Curriculum emphasizes meaningful experiences, hands-on exploration, purposeful play, and learning opportunities built around children’s individual strengths, interests, and ways of learning.
Absolutely. Hands-on exploration is an important part of the BrightStart experience. Children learn through play, discovery, storytelling, art, STEM challenges, outdoor exploration, movement, and other experiences that allow them to actively engage with the world around them.
Every classroom will have its own rhythm based on the children’s ages and developmental needs. Throughout the day, children will have opportunities for play, exploration, learning experiences, social interaction, routines, and connection with their teachers and peers.
Teachers intentionally observe children’s strengths, questions, problem-solving, relationships, and interests and use those observations to inform their planning.
Outdoor experiences are an important part of BrightStart’s play-rich approach. We believe children benefit from opportunities to move, explore, experience nature, and learn through their surroundings. Outdoor exploration is incorporated into the learning experience whenever developmentally and operationally appropriate.
We begin by getting to know the child in front of us. Teachers observe children’s strengths, interests, abilities, relationships, problem-solving approaches, and ways of learning, then use those observations to create experiences that support continued growth.
Our goal is not to focus only on what a child has not yet mastered, but to recognize what they can do and use those strengths as a foundation for continued development.
